Information for Parents
Library Overdue and Fine Notices
Librarians will print Overdue and Fine notices on a weekly basis. Please try to resolve these notices as soon as possible. The Library computer prints an overdue notice for all students with books checked out past the due date.
Please help your child locate the book(s) and return them immediately to the Library. Your child may come into the Library in the morning before the bell or during the day with the teacher’s permission, as the Library schedule
permits.
Fines We do not charge fines for overdue books. It is our philosophy that the fine does not help teach our students responsibility. Instead, we encourage children to return overdue books as soon as possible. If they have an overdue book, they are not permitted to check out a new book until the overdue book is returned.
Paying for a lost or damaged book: If you feel you have looked everywhere for a lost book, or you know a book has been damaged beyond repair, a replacement cost must be paid before any other books can be checked out. Please contact your Librarian and she will let you know the cost of the book, and you may either pay in cash, check made out to "Wyoming City Schools" or order a hard-bound replacement copy.
Library Policy
1. We expect students to show Respect. This includes the facility, the books, the instructor, and the other students. We expect student to learn how to take books off a shelf and put them back properly. We expect that students will show proper care for books and keep them safe.
Learning how to access information effectively has become essential in today's world, we expect students to listen to instruction, and not be a distraction to others. We also expect students to work quietly and not disturb others who want a quiet place to read or study.
2. When a student checks out a book it is his/her responsibility to return the book in good condition. Fines will be charged for lost, damaged or stolen material.
3. We do not require students to check out books (sometimes the classroom teacher does). The automation system keeps track of what books they check out.... This tells us if they are reading books appropriate for their ability. Please let us know if there are any particular books you do not want your child to check out, and we will encourage them to try something more appropriate.
